Gun grabbers now using credit card companies to track guns

Good day all. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a story regarding the A.W.F.U.L. (Angry White Female Urban Liberal), Govno of New York, Kathy Hochul demanding that credit card companies start tracking the purchases of guns and ammunition. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but now the credit card companies are going to do just that.

Govno Hochul’s idea was to use credit card companies to break down purchases to make it easier for the government to track purchases, no doubt with an eye to a general confiscation. Now the credit card companies are going to do just that. Here are the details from CBS News:

Credit card industry representatives have cleared the way for a new means of tracking firearm and ammunition purchases, a move that supporters say will help flag suspicious sales and reduce gun crime.

Actually, no it won’t. What it does is create a database of buyers that the government can then use, (They won’t bother with legal documents, the credit card companies will throw the data at them cheerfully), to track down gun owners.

The International Standards Organization, which sets rules across the financial services industry, agreed to create a new merchant category code for gun and ammunition retailers at a meeting this week, and announced the decision Friday. The decision came amid mounting pressure on credit card companies by Democrats in Congress who urged the code’s creation.

Of course it’s the Democratic Communazis. They hate the very idea of anyone outside of their immediate circle having guns. People with guns can and will stop the Progressives from their goal of re-instituting slavery, although it won’t be under that name, and force people to bend to their will.

Merchant category codes are made up of four digits and are used across all sorts of industries as a means to classify retailers, while not revealing individual product purchases. Credit card companies currently lump firearm retailers in with other outlets, classifying them as either “5999: Miscellaneous retail stores” or “5941: Sporting Goods Stores.”

With a new code for firearms merchants, potentially suspicious purchasing patterns could be flagged to law enforcement — much the same way banks and credit unions made more than 1.4 million suspicious activity reports in 2021 for other types of transactions that might suggest anything from identity theft to terrorist financing.

In other words, they will be acting as agents of of the State who will then use this information to go after anyone they decide is an enemy of the state, and then arrest or kill them. (Why else do you need 87,000 new armed IRS agents?)

The shooter who terrorized a Colorado movie theater in 2012 charged more than $9,000 worth of guns, ammunition and tactical gear in the two months leading up to his attack, which killed 12 people and injured 70. The man who shot up the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, killing 49 people, put more than $26,000 on credit cards on firearms and ammunition. And the shooter who killed 59 at a music festival in Las Vegas in 2017 charged almost $95,000 on dozens of guns.

So what? Just what is the government going to do if someone makes large purchases like this? As long as they pass the NICS checks, (For the purchase of firearms), then they have zero cause to harass people, and that is exactly what it will be. Harassment.

Mastercard, American Express and Visa initially resisted the creation of a merchant category code for gun and ammunition retailers according to an investigation by CBS News in June.

Visa had expressed concerns about the proposal. In a letter obtained by CBS News, sent by Visa on Wednesday in response to congressional Democrats who supported the plan, the company said, “We believe that asking payment networks to serve as a moral authority by deciding which legal goods can or cannot be purchased sets a dangerous precedent.”

Visa wrote, “We understood Amalgamated Bank’s request to be justified, at least in part, by an interest in blocking transactions that would fall under such a new category, and Visa’s rules expressly prohibit blocking of legal transactions under an MCC.”

How silly of you to think the Democratic Communazis give a damn about legal transactions. They don’t. This is all about developing the tools they can use down the road to start confiscating guns and rounding up “Undesirables.”

New York-based Amalgamated Bank first began the effort to create a code to track firearms and ammunition sales back in July 2021. They renewed the push after a series of deadly mass shootings in which young men used high-powered weapons purchased with credit cards. Amalgamated was founded by union workers nearly 100 years ago and bills itself as the nation’s oldest socially responsible bank.

Socially responsible huh? I assume this means that the Constitution and the limits it imposes on Government is something they would like to see abolished.

“We all have to do our part to stop gun violence,” said Priscilla Sims Brown, President and CEO of Amalgamated Bank. “And it sometimes starts with illegal purchases of guns and ammunition. The new code will allow us to fully comply with our duty to report suspicious activity and illegal gun sales to authorities without blocking or impeding legal gun sales. This action answers the call of millions of Americans who want safety from gun violence and we are proud to have led the broad coalition of advocates, shareholders, and elected officials that achieved this historic outcome.”

What a load of manure. First, convicted felons who have lost their right to keep and bear arms, (Whether or not a convicted criminal should get them back at some point is a discussion for another day), can not go into a gun store and buy a gun. They will be flagged by the NICS system. The only way they can get around that is if the government hasn’t loaded their name into the system. (Which has happened)

Criminals also don’t generally go into gun stores to buy ammo. They get it from the same sources they use to get the guns they can’t otherwise purchase. In other words, they get them by stealing them or by buying them on the black market.

A group of lawmakers led by Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Madeleine Dean sent letters to American Express, Visa and Mastercard on Sept. 1, asking each company for their current stance on the code’s creation. They further inquired about the role each credit card company had in “supporting, opposing, or delaying” the process as industry representatives on the standards organization committee that reviews applications for new merchant category codes.

“This approval is an important step towards improving coordination with law enforcement and preventing gun violence,” Senator Elizabeth Warren told CBS News in a statement. “In order for this new merchant code to be maximally effective, every financial institution and payment system needs to step up and put it to use.”

Elizabeth “Fauxahontas” is a fraud, a liar and a totalitarian. She is the reason the 2nd Amendment exists, which is why she is so hot to abolish it and start the general round up of all privately held firearms. That would soon be followed by a round up of every person she deems to be undesirable in the “New World Soviet Order.

Now I don’t know how this would work if people go into gun shops and pay in cash. Granted, it would be a bit of a hassle for the store owners, since they would have to secure the cash and fill out other forms when they deposit it. Online sales of ammunition will still need to be credit cards though, unless they set up something to use paypal or some other form of electronic transfer. The money is recorded for business and tax purposes, but not the actual detail of what was purchased.

This brings us to another issue, those that spend a ton of money on firearms and ammunition. I know people who will drop $10K or more on a new firearm, and will also buy thousands of rounds of ammunition. They aren’t planning on overthrowing the Democratic Communazis and the Deep State, (Although they might think about it), they are going to use that ammo on a range somewhere.

I suspect that once the harassment of lawful gun and ammo buyers starts, the lawsuits will quickly follow. Thanks to the Bruen Decision, courts now have to uses the exact wording of the 2nd Amendment when issuing a ruling. Using credit card companies as agents of the state is going to put a great big legal bullseye on them. When that happens watch how fast they end the new system, or at least the ones not driven into bankruptcy.
