Good day all. No sooner had I posted something about Twitter censoring medical information, out comes yet another drop from the Twitter Files with a great deal more detail. This data dump was written by David Zweig and details how the United States Government pressured Twitter to suppress any discussions that didn’t follow the narrative put out by Fauci and the CDC.
Mr. Zweig did the usual posts on Twitter detailing the information he had uncovered. This is per the agreement with Elon Musk, that all information had to be first posted on Twitter. Many people have complained about the format. However, after posting the latest Twitter Files, Mr. Zweig then posted the story in a standard format on Bari Weiss’s new site, The Free Press.
The story on the Free Press starts out with Ms. Weiss detailing some of the back story in how they been finding out just how corrupt Twitter 1.0 was and how deeply the Federal Government had their hooks into them. She then describes how Mr. Zweig was brought in to deal with the Covid cover-ups by Twitter 1.0, since he had spent the last few years reporting on it. Here are the details of what he found from The Free Press:
I had always thought a primary job of the press was to be skeptical of power—especially the power of the government. But during the Covid-19 pandemic, I and so many others found that the legacy media had shown itself to largely operate as a messaging platform for our public health institutions. Those institutions operated in near total lockstep, in part by purging internal dissidents and discrediting outside experts.
There is a reason for this of course. Part of it was Anthony Fauci trying to cover up his role in Covid-19 being modified using gain of function techniques and it’s subsequent escape from a lab in Wuhan. China. Fauci had already been told not to do gain of function research, but the arrogant twerp basically ignored the instructions and went through some pretty interesting hoops to do the Gain of Function research
Twitter became an essential alternative. It was a place where those with public health expertise and perspectives at odds with official policy could air their views—and where curious citizens could find such information. This often included other countries’ responses to Covid that differed dramatically from our own.
That was the alleged original intent of Twitter, before it evolved into the Progressive Totalitarian echo chamber it was prior to Elon Musk taking it over.
But it quickly became clear that Twitter also seemed to promote content that reinforced the establishment narrative, and to suppress views and even scientific evidence that ran to the contrary.
Was I imagining things?
Nope, you weren’t.
Was the pattern I and others witnessed proof of purposeful intent?
Allow me to provide an answer. Hell Yes! It was purposeful intent.
An algorithm gone rogue?
They might try to blame Skynet, but the Connors took care of that problem.
Or something else? In other words: When it came to Covid, and the information shared on a service used by hundreds of millions of people, what exactly was being amplified? And what was being banned or censored?
Again, they were censoring anything that when against their Progressive, Socialist world view. So, tell us what you found once you dove into the raw sewage that was Twitter 1.0.
The United States government pressured Twitter to elevate certain content and suppress other content about Covid-19 and the pandemic. Internal emails that I viewed at Twitter showed that both the Trump and Biden administrations directly pressed Twitter executives to moderate the platform’s content according to their wishes.
So, what was the administration of the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump, trying to cover up. Where the virus actually came from? Blocking any information that may have helped stop it? Inquiring minds want to know!
At the onset of the pandemic, the Trump administration was especially concerned about panic buying, and sought “help from the tech companies to combat misinformation,” according to emails sent by Twitter employees in the wake of meetings with the White House. One area of so-called misinformation: “runs on grocery stores.” The trouble is that it wasn’t misinformation: There actually were runs on goods.
Yep, there were runs on certain items. There are people who’s great grandchildren will be using the toilet paper their ancestor bought. I’m trying to recall where the rumors that we were going to run out of some items began, but I just don’t remember. I can see that the Trump Administration would try to clear up incorrect information that led to panic buying.
And it wasn’t just Twitter. The meetings with the Trump White House were also attended by Google, Facebook, Microsoft and others.
So the Trump administration was trying to stop panic buying and reassure the people. I can see working with Big Tech on this, but how things were implemented appears to have been different after the Worst President* in history was installed into office.
When the Biden administration took over, its agenda for the American people can be summed up as: Be very afraid of Covid and do exactly what we say to stay safe.
The Democrats used Coronavirus panicdemic to seize power and basically rig an election in their favor. Once they got in, they went all in on tearing up the Constitution and crushing the rights of the American People. Basically, they turned the United States into a giant slave plantation, and Big Tech, which has always hated President Trump, conservatives and freedom were happy to help.
In July 2021, then-U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy released a 22-page advisory concerning what the World Health Organization referred to as an “infodemic,” and called on social media platforms to do more to shut down “misformation.”
“We are asking them to step up,” Murthy said. “We can’t wait longer for them to take aggressive action.”
This wasn’t setting up a response to something that they considered to be incorrect information, what this thug and the rest of the Maladministration wanted was flat out censorship.
That’s the message the White House had already taken directly to Twitter executives in private channels. One of the Biden administration’s first meeting requests was about Covid, with a focus on “anti-vaxxer accounts,” according to a meeting summary by Lauren Culbertson, Twitter’s Head of U.S. Public Policy.
When President Trump initiated Operation Warp Speed, the goal was to get a vaccine out there that was safe and effective that people could take. There was never any hint of forcing people to “Get the jab” as a condition of employment or even being able to move about. There were people who were concerned about the vaccines and that they may not have been properly or fully tested for safety and efficacy. Since the Biden Maladministration’s goal was to institute tyranny, they had to shut down any potential threats to their narratives that “Vaccines are good, take them or else.” messaging.
They were especially concerned about Alex Berenson, a journalist skeptical of lockdowns and mRNA vaccines, who had hundreds of thousands of followers on the platform.
The Biden Dictatorship went after Berenson and basically treated him as an “Enemy of the State.” He become one of the first targets of the Biden Censorship Regime.
By the summer of 2021, the day after Murthy’s memo, Biden announced publicly that social media companies were “killing people” by allowing misinformation about vaccines. Just hours later, Twitter locked Berenson out of his account, and then permanently suspended him the next month.
The good news here is that Berenson sued Twitter. They were forced to cough up internal documents showing that the White house had met with Twitter and pressured them to shut him down. The story goes into some details regarding the maladministration’s demands that any dissenting views be shut down. Surprisingly, Twitter actually had some serious internal debated regarding this, which Zweig found in the records he’s been digging through. In the end, Twitter did censor opinions that went against the narrative and shut down accounts of people who had differing opinions.
Many medical and public health professionals who expressed perspectives or even cited findings from accredited academic journals that conflicted with official positions were also targeted. As a result, legitimate findings and questions about our Covid policies and their consequences went missing.
David Zweig then details how the censorship regime was created. Reviewing what he found, it was a disaster looking for a place to happen, and happen it did. They started out with internal Artificial Intelligence algorithms and bots that went through everything. The problem was, they were to crude. So they set up human reviewers. These were in places like the Philippines and were handled by people who had no idea about the subjects they were supposed to review. According to Mr. Zweig:
They were given decision trees to aid in their process, but tasking non-experts to adjudicate tweets on complex topics like myocarditis and mask efficacy data was destined for a significant error rate. The notion that remote workers, sitting in distant cube farms, were going to police medical information to this granular degree is absurd on its face.
Most importantly, the buck stopped with higher level employees at Twitter. They chose the inputs for the bots and decision trees. They determined suspensions. And as is the case with all people and institutions, there was both individual and collective bias.
Yes, they were a pack of barking moonbats who think socialism, collectivism, rule by the elites and the power of the state are the way things should work.
At Twitter, Covid-related bias bent heavily toward establishment dogmas. Inevitably, dissident yet legitimate content was labeled as misinformation, and the accounts of doctors and others were suspended both for tweeting opinions and demonstrably true information.
That is what is going to bite both the maladministration and the old Twitter managers right in the ass. Their censorship might have caused unnecessary injuries and deaths. Some of the questions being asked was forcing children to “Get the Jab.” Children were the one group that was barely touched by Covid-19. It was basically “Mommy! I don’t feel so good. Can I go out and play now?”
One such target was Dr Martin Kulldorff. He was asked about vaccinating younger people and he thought it was a bad idea. He thought that the vaccine should be restricted primarily to the elderly and those at higher risk. Twitter saw this and shut him down saying he was providing “Misinformation.” There was just one problem. Dr. Kulldorff is an actual expert in the field and knows what he is talking about.
Further, he was offering an opinion that was in line with the policies in a number of other countries. It didn’t matter to the censors of Twitter and the Biden Regime. He was tagged with providing misinformation and his message was blocked. He wasn’t the only one. Anyone who questioned the CDC’s message regarding the vaccine, the lock-downs, masks or where the Coronavirus came from was also shut down by Twitter.
In my review of internal files, I found numerous instances of tweets about vaccines and pandemic policies labeled as “misleading” or taken down entirely, sometimes triggering account suspensions, simply because they veered from CDC guidance or differed from establishment views.
For example, a tweet by @KelleyKga, a self-proclaimed public health fact checker with more than 18,000 followers, was flagged as “misleading,” and replies and likes disabled, for showing that Covid was not the leading cause of death in children, even though it cited the CDC’s own data.
Mr. Zweig put up a screen shot of the “Misinformation” tweet and it looks like she was posting actual information to a tweet that was, in fact, misinformation. (What normal people call flat out wrong) Twitter was also secretly blacklisting people as well if they deviated from the political narrative.
As reported earlier by The Free Press, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, a Stanford professor of health policy who argued for focused protection of the vulnerable and an end to lockdowns, was secretly put on a Trends Blacklist.
Mr. Zweig goes on to list may other medical professionals who were posting information that questioned the “Reality” put out by the likes of the CDC and Anthony Fauci, and were either suppressed or banned. While a lot of the posts were hit with their poorly designed algorithms quite a few were blocked bay actual humans with no actual knowledge in the field. One was Dr. Andrew Bostom, MD, MS who posted that the flu was more dangerous to children the Covid-19. He was banned by some punk with no medical training at all, just a political ax to grind.
Another was, of course, the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump. When he contracted the Fauci bioweapon, the left started dancing in the streets. President Trump fully recovered, as most people did and started tweeting out that he was doing great and that the doctors were terrific. This set off the “Usual Suspects” inside Twitter 1.0.
Another example of human bias run amok was the reaction to the below tweet by then-President Trump. Many Trump tweets led to extensive internal debates at the company, and this one was no different. President Trump, as he was leaving the hospital sent out a very positive tweet.
“I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better then I did 20 years ago!”
In a surreal exchange, Jim Baker, at the time Twitter’s Deputy General Counsel, asks why telling people to not be afraid wasn’t a violation of Twitter’s Covid-19 misinformation policy.
In his reply, Yoel Roth, Twitter’s former head of Trust & Safety, had to explain that optimism wasn’t misinformation.
It’s beginning to look more and more to me that James Baker needs to spend a few years in a maximum security prison. He was a driving force behind the fake Russia file that led to the 2 years of crap President Trump had to deal with after taking office. When a Leftist tool like Roth had to real him in, you know just how bad his TDS is. (Trump Derangement Syndrome)
Throughout the pandemic, Twitter repeatedly propped up the official government line that prioritizing mitigation over other concerns was the best approach to the pandemic. Information that challenged that view—for example, that pointed out the low risk children faced from the virus, or that raised questions about vaccine safety or effectiveness—was subject to moderation and suppression.
It looks like most of the worst offenses regarding suppression took place under the Biden Regime. From what little Mr. Zweig posted regarding the Trump Administrations dealings with Twitter, it appears that they were trying to reduce panic. I don’t know if Mr. Zweig simply didn’t have the actual requests from the Trump administration available or that they had been destroyed and don’t exist other then as notations. From what I’ve been seeing in the Twitter Files, the writers have been working hard to be as accurate as possible. (There has been some editorializing in the stories)
However, it’s pretty obvious that there were significant differences in the requests from the Trump and Biden White Houses. Biden and his thugs have been actively working to suppress the 1st amendment rights of anyone who opposed them. Twitter 1.0’s management and staff have been all in on suppressing speech of anyone they didn’t personally approve of.
Now with the information releases by Elon Musk, and distributed by Mr. Zweig, I suspect that there are grounds for criminal charges to be brought against federal employees and people involved in the censorship of conservatives and now people in the medical and scientific community. Because the free flow of information and ideas was blocked by Twitter 1.0, people may have died.
Somehow, I don’t think people like James Baker, Yoel Roth, Vijaya Gadde and Jack Doresy every thought about the potential damage they were doing. I hope all of them are sued into oblivion, and if it is shown that their actions did harm to people, they are charged, tried, convicted and jailed. I’ll leave all of this to those trained in legal matters.
