Good day all. With all the fake news regarding future Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh, this tidbit flew under the radar. It seems that Iran took the United States to court over the sanctions President Trump reimposed.
Well that august body of learned scumsucking totalitarians, in a surprise to nobody, has issued a ruling favoring Iran. They are ordering the United States to lift the sanctions. Here are the amusing details from the Times of India:
The UN’s top court ordered the United States on Wednesday to suspend sanctions on “humanitarian” goods for Iran. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) handed down the bombshell judgement after Iran asked it to halt economic measures that Trump reimposed after pulling out of a landmark nuclear deal with Tehran.
Judges in The Hague unanimously ruled that the sanctions on some goods breached a 1955 “friendship treaty” between Iran and the US that predates Iran’s Islamic Revolution.
“The court finds unanimously that… the United States of America… shall remove by means of its choosing any impediments arising from the measures announced on 8 May to the free exportation to Iran of medicines and medical devices, food and agricultural commodities” as well as airplane parts, chief judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf said.
The court said sanctions on goods “required for humanitarian needs… may have a serious detrimental impact on the health and lives of individuals on the territory of Iran.” US sanctions also had the “potential to endanger civil aviation safety in Iran and the lives of its users.”
The reaction from the Trump Administration was quick and to the point.
Where to begin? First there is Iran using an agreement put together by the Shah. I seem to recall that Iran had a little revolution and deposed the Shah of Iran and killed anyone who supported him. Then, there was that problem with Iran taking over our embassy and holding Americans prisoner for 444 days, until President Reagan was sworn in. (The claim by the Iranians was that the delay was to further humiliate President Peanut Farmer. Most think they released the hostages because they believed Reagan would nuke them)
We also have the decades of terrorist attacks against Americans sponsored by Iran. I also recall that at some point, Iran declared war on the United States. (I may be mistaken there) Then there is the very amusing idea that the UN court actually means anything to America. It doesn’t. In fact, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the United States was abrogating the treaty that Iran used in the UN Court. According to Fox News:
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Wednesday that the U.S. is terminating a 1955 treaty with Iran, after the United Nations’ top court used that treaty to order the U.S. to ease some of its sanctions on the regime.
In other words, Secretary of State Pompeo told the International Court of Justice to…
In his press conference, Pompeo said Iran’s case was “meritless” and accused the country of “attempting to interfere with the sovereign rights of the United States to take lawful actions necessary to protect our national security and abusing the ICJ for political and propaganda purposes.”
He then announced the U.S. would terminate the Amity treaty which formed the basis of Iran’s suit against the U.S..
“This is a decision frankly that is 39 years overdue,” he said, suggesting the U.S. should have pulled out of the treaty after the 1979 revolution in the country.
I could say better late then never, but let’s be realistic. President Reagan was concerned with other matters, such as winning the cold war. Clinton? Unless there was money in it, he didn’t care. The two Bush’s are Globalists through and through and would never consider walking away from anything that diminished American Sovereignty. Obama? He was to busy giving the Iranians whatever they wanted. It took a president who actually putting America first to take this action, and I suspect President Trump wasn’t even aware of the existence of this treaty.
The Globalists in Eurostan still haven’t figured out that the rules have changed. America is no longer willing to drop it’s pants and bend over for a good sodomizing. Now we’re putting American needs first, and other countries second, if they even show up on our list at all. Now we just need to send the United Nations packing and turn the UN building into low income housing.
