Good day all. Amherst College, not to be confused with Umass Amherst, like many other places of higher indoctrination, is not noted for being very friendly to free speech. Recently, the college administration posted “Guidelines” on how people should speak.
Needless to say, these guidelines, called the “Common Language Guide,” make George Orwell’s 1984 Newspeak look tame in comparison. Here are the details from Fox News:
A Massachusetts college is backpedaling after facing accusations of trying to stifle free speech with a “Common Language Guide” that criticizes capitalism and provides definitions to students on terms ranging from “Toxic Masculinity” to the “White Savior Complex.”
The 40-page glossary issued to students at Amherst College, which champions itself as a private liberal arts institution “committed to inclusivity and ensuring that all students feel they belong”, was yanked off its website last week following an apparent deluge of angry emails sent to the school’s president and an outcry from its College Republicans club.
“It wasn’t the college’s place to tell us what these things meant,” Brantley Mayers, a senior member of the club, told the Boston Herald. “They were establishing the parameters of speech.
“A culture has been bred on campus that dismisses conservative viewpoints and dismisses conservative students,” he added.

I so love it when Progressives talk about “Inclusivity.” They are very inclusive of every idea they agree with. Anyone else it’s “Burn the witch!” Here’s a few of the idiot ideas these moonbats came up with:
CAPITALISM: “An economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for pro?t, rather than by the state. This system leads to exploitative labor practices, which a?ect marginalized groups disproportionately.”

TOXIC MASCULINITY: “Masculinity as de?ned by violence, sexual acts, status, aggression, and the oppression of others. Toxic masculinity hurts everyone, including cisgender men. It is characterized with rigid gender roles and expectations that are often violently enforced. Men are unable to express or feel emotion, and the fear of being deemed in proximity to being gay or a woman is constant threat.”
LEGAL/ILLEGAL: “Highly racialized term to describe a person’s presence in a nation without government-issued immigration status. Not an appropriate noun or adjective to describe an individual.”
So, referring to the legal status of a non-citizen is considered “Radical?” Nice to see that the college is being run by Globalists who think the United States wanting to control its borders is the problem. I wonder what these wimps will do when their precious “Undocumented Migrants” from MS-13 slit their throats for the heck of it?
WHITE SAVIOR COMPLEX: “An attitude or posture of condescending benevolence based on the idea that white people inherently should, are in a position to and are qualifed to ‘save’ people of color. This can be seen internationally as well as domestically.”
Well now, they just described the average Progressive liberal Democrat. I guess the college is going to have to ban itself now. As you can imagine, when this load of bovine droppings landed, people were not to amused. Now the college is trying to walk back this garbage.
Amherst College’s president, Biddy Martin, said in a statement posted on its website that “our resource-center staff worked to create a guide that would help members of the community understand the experiences and perspectives of students from underrepresented and under-appreciated groups.

“It was sent out to the entire campus without appropriate vetting and without approval to be circulated, creating the impression that it was a formal college document calling for shared language about very complicated issues,” she continued. “Our chief diversity and inclusion officer, Norm Jones, and I quickly made it clear that the document is not an official college guide. We removed it from the college website in order to underscore that fact.”
What Old Biddy Martin is saying is “Damn! We got caught! Quick deny everything and throw the resource center staff under the bus!” Yeah, that’s not working to well.
Martin also said “my email inbox and the conversations I have had… are ample proof that we do not need an executive order to ensure freedom of speech or diversity of viewpoints on our campus.
The very fact that this load of manure was even being considered is ample proof that President Trumps Executive order protecting the 1st Amendment is needed. I wish it wasn’t.
“Still, a college, to be a college, must protect freedom of expression and promote differences of perspectives in ways the document, absolute and declarative in tone, did not appear to do,” she added.
Pull the other finger, it has a bell on it. The fact is, you got caught putting together a speech code in violation of the Constitution of the United States. Now if Amherst College is a totally private school, and isn’t receiving one penny of taxpayer’s money, then sure, they can institute their totalitarian speech codes. However, I only know of one or two colleges in the United States that meet this criteria, and I’m willing to bet that Amherst isn’t one of them.
Today, the so called “College Education” being delivered is anything but. We are seeing people graduating with what amounts to garbage degrees that cost 10’s of thousands of dollars and are utterly worthless in the job market. That’s why you see so many graduates with a bachelor’s degree in Social Justice studies serving up a double mocha espresso at Starbucks. They learned nothing in school.
If you want a relevant example of what a modern Liberal Arts degree gets you, look at the former bartender and current embarrassment to the House of Representatives, Alexandria Occasional-Cortex. She allegedly received a degree in economics, yet is unable to grasp the fact that her plans require more money than actually exists on the planet.

Speech codes were a major “Thing” 10+ years ago and many people were harmed by them. Sadly, to many schools still think that the best way to teach is to shut down any form of debate. The good news is that a lot of these schools are now finding out that eventually, people start demanding both value for the money they’re paying and an expectation that schools will teach, not indoctrinate.
The administration of Amherst College is in a panic now. They’ve seen what’s been happening to other colleges and are terrified that their enrollments will collapse, or someone will unleash the Lawyers of Hell on them. To that I say, good. Be afraid. Be very very afraid. Perhaps you will learn something and return to your roles as educators and not political commissars.
