Good day all. In my post regarding the Virginia Democrats calling out the National Guard to enforce their planned draconian gun control laws. There was some question regarding the Guard actually obeying the orders to basically institute martial law.
This has led to the Adjutant General of the Virginia National Guard to issue a press release regarding this possibility. Here are the details from Bearing Arms:
Democrat Congressman Donald McEachin’s comments about using the National Guard to enforce Governor Ralph Northam’s proposed gun control laws in Virginia has caused a storm of controversy in the state, to the point that the Adjutant General of the Virginia National Guard has issued a statement, after scores of phone calls and emails from concerned citizens and curious media figures. WSLS-TV in Roanoke was the first to report on the comments by Major General Timothy P. Williams.
“We have received multiple questions regarding proposed legislation for the 2020 General Assembly session and the authority of the Governor of Virginia to employ the Virginia National Guard in a law enforcement role. Please make sure you share this message with your all of your personnel.
We understand and respect the passion people feel for the U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights. We will not speculate about the possible use of the Virginia National Guard. I encourage everyone to be patient while we allow our elected officials to work through the legislative process.
We have not received any requests from the Governor, or anyone on his staff, about serving in a law enforcement role related to any proposed legislation.
I expect our Soldiers, Airmen and members of the Virginia Defense Force to be professional and respectful in their discussions about this subject. As private citizens, our personnel are free to express their opinions to their elected officials, but they should not engage in any political activity while in a uniformed status.
We will provide regular updates when appropriate during the General Assembly session. Please utilize your chain of command to direct any questions or concerns to my office, and we will do our best to address them.”
Basically, Major General Williams is trying to thread the needle. He is literally between a rock and a hard place thanks to that idiot Democrat and his desire to institute martial law in Virginia.
For those who were hoping that Maj. General Williams was going to come out swinging with a “Hell no we’re not taking anybody’s guns”, it wasn’t going to happen. Even if that’s how the adjutant general feels, he’s not going to pick a fight with the governor if he doesn’t have to. He can kick this can down the road, at least until and if Northam actually requests that the National Guard go into rural counties to look for people who are allowing their 17-year old daughter to hunt unsupervised on their property, or to try to catch someone transferring a firearm without a background check.
And there’s the rub. General Williams fully understands, unlike the Democrats, that officers should never issue an order they know won’t be carried out. Basically ending civil liberties and having guard troops kicking doors is one of those orders that will probably not be obeyed. To begin with, many of the troops who would be called up to implement that nightmare are the very same people who are saying “Hell NO!” As I mentioned in my earlier post, just how many of these soldiers would even report for duty under those circumstances?
If Northam were actually dumb enough to do that, I suspect what he’d find is yet another crisis of public confidence on his hands. Not only would he have to deal with dozens of counties and cities that have said “no” to unconstitutional gun control laws, he’d create a crisis within the Virginia National Guard, whose members swear to uphold the Constitution. Many of those National Guardsmen are gun owners and Second Amendment supporters as well, and I suspect there would be a genuine fracturing of the organization over the issue.
It would probably be the catalyst that started the Second American Civil War. As I mentioned in my earlier post, there are about 7000 members of the Virginia National Guard. Not all of them are infantry. They will be outnumbered 20-1 at best. There is another problem for Northam and the Democrats if that idiot governor did issue such an order.
President Trump could, and probably would federalize the state guard and order them not to deploy. In fact, he might tell them to return to their homes and businesses and await further orders from the Commander in Chief, and that would not be the Governor of Virginia.
In fact, if you read between the lines of the adjutant general’s statement, it’s clear that McEachin’s comment is already causing a stir within the Guard itself. The men and women of the Virginia National Guard signed up to defend freedom, not establish a police state on American soil where soldiers search for scofflaws who refuse to register their rifles with the Virginia State Police.
Which brings up another problem, the various levels of local law enforcement who have flat out said they will not comply with the gun confiscation laws being proposed by the incoming Democrat legislators and the governor. By the way, a far number of them are also National Guard troops as well. As for Donald McEachin, I looked up this moron and this is his first, and I suspect, last term in congress. (Yes, I should have looked up this idiot for the earlier post. Mea Culpa)
McEachin seems to be siding with the likes of Eric “Nuke American Gun Owners” Salwell. From what I have been reading about him, the only reason he won the election was due to a couple of federal judges deciding they didn’t like the way the congressional districts were drawn. (FYI, they were appointed by the Globalist, Bush II) These racist judges decided to create what amounts to a segregated all black district. This allowed McEachin the Progressive totalitarian to win the election. Well, 2020 is coming up and I have no doubt this will be brought to the attention of the voters.

Getting back the problem of ordering the Guard troops to deploy against their family, friends and neighbors, It’s possible that the new legislature might be getting the message and decide not to try to pass bills ending the constitutional rights of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Or they are that stupid and arrogant and push them through and the governor signs them. Then the “fun” will begin. Somehow, if it reaches that point, I think General Williams my resign or refuse the order. We shall see.

***UPDATE***
Just before I published this I saw that the Virginia Democrats are now pulling their usual “Compromise” scam. Now, instead of confiscation, they want to force gun owners to register all their guns. (For later confiscation no doubt) According to Epoch Times:
Virginia Democrats are proposing a mandatory state gun registration measure after widespread public outrage forced them to back off a more aggressive plan to confiscate so-called assault weapons, a designation that gun experts have long rejected as arbitrary.
But Gov. Ralph Northam’s plan still calls for a ban on assault weapons, albeit with a grandfather clause allowing those who already own such weapons to keep them, Northam spokeswoman Alena Yarmosky said in a statement, The Daily Wire reported on Dec. 12.
The grandfather clause will apply only if the owners register their weapons with the government “before the end of a designated grace period,” Yarmosky said.
Yeah, that isn’t going to work either I’d say.
