Good day all. Seattle has become a Marxist utopia over the last couple of years, with the election of Kshama Sawant. So thrilled are the residents of Seattle with her actions that they are now looking to recall and remove her from office.
Kshama Sawant is a naturalized American citizen originally from India. She did not grow up in the United States, but immigrated here as an adult. The major problem with this is that she also brought all the baggage of her country of origin with her and has been trying to shove it down the throats of everyone else. She has called for the takeover by force of the Boeing plants and convert them from making planes to making buses.
Her recent antics during the Antifa/BCLOM insurrection, threatening people who disagreed with her along with breaking into buildings and letting the insurrectionists loot and burn them appear to have pushed even the moonbats of Seattle to far. Now they are looking to recall her. Here are the details from Fox News:
A bitter political battle has broken out in Seattle where one of the city’s council members is facing a recall effort led by residents who expressed dismay over her conduct during recent protests.
On Thursday, Seattle resident Ernest Lou made his case again for the recall effort, which he based on four specific charges relating to how Councilwoman Kshama Sawant. allegedly abused her office. Specifically, Lou alleges that Sawant let protesters into City Hall during a nighttime protest and spoke at another demonstration in front of the Democratic Mayor Jenny Durkan’s house.
There is no alleged about Sawant letting rioters into city hall or speaking at the demonstration. There is plenty of video evidence. Of course, being the arrogant Communist she is, Sawant is using the courts to crush her opponents.
The issue is currently headed to the Washington Supreme Court in January after an appeal from Sawant, a socialist.
Sawant’s legal team argued that the charges were “factually and legally insufficient.” According to Seattle P-I, attorney Dmitri Iglitzin accused Lou of engaging in a politicized attack. “You can’t convert political disagreement into a recall,” Iglitzin said. In September, Seattle’s city council voted to pay legal fees for Sawant, whose private lawyers reportedly cost $75,000.
I see that the City Council of Seattle is continuing their tradition of screwing over their constituents and the taxpayers. Sawant should be paying for this out of her own pocket, or at least via her campaign slush fund. (I’m not a lawyer, but I think this would be allowed under campaign finance laws. I’ll let those better schooled in the legal niceties provide details in the comments section) As for her lawyer saying that this was nothing more then a political attack? Well DUH! A recall petition is like an impeachment. It is a political tool and can be used for any reason. (Again, I’m not conversant in the laws of Seattle or Washington State, and there may be a difference here)
Sawant won a partial victory in September when King County Superior Judge Jim Rogers rejected some of the charges against her. However, Rogers kept four charges, saying that “the petitioner has shown actual knowledge of facts indicating that the council member intended to commit an unlawful act.”
I’m curious about something. A recall petition basically asks the voters to remove an office holder for whatever reason. In many cases it’s due to the appearance of corruption and law breaking, but also for flat out ignoring what the office holder’s constituents want. They can also seek to remove the office holder for perceived incompetence. That the courts can dismiss a recall petition seems to me more of a way to protect the “ruling classes” then the people.
She’s also encountered criticism from Durkan, who faced a recall that was rejected by the state’s Supreme Court in October.
“All of us have joined hundreds of demonstrations across the City, but Council member Sawant and her followers chose to do so with reckless disregard of the safety of my family and children,” Durkan said in a letter to the city council president this summer. “In addition, during or after Council member Sawant’s speech at that rally, her followers vandalized my home by spray-painting obscenities.”
Durkin is another hack who should have been recalled, but was protected by the courts. Her actions caused massive damage to the City she is supposed to manage, and, unlike Sawant, she’s taken the hint and recently announced she won’t be seeking reelection. Sawant, on the other hand, isn’t taking the hint and is doubling down on her plans to create her ideas of a Socialist totalitarian state.
Sawant, meanwhile, has suggested that Durkan is part of the corporate elite, referring to her as “Amazon’s mayor” in a Nov. 11 op-ed for the socialist outlet Jacobin. Touting a series of victories, including an “Amazon” tax levy to support a Green New Deal, Sawant argued that “victories like these are why the ruling class wants a do-over.”
Sawant loves the idea of the misnamed Green New Deal that Alexandria Occasional-Cortex’s handlers came up with. It’s designed to do one thing. End the United States as a free, economically advanced republic and create their version of the Soviet Socialist States of America. Her references to the “Ruling class” is right out of Karl Marx and shows why she is unfit to be in office.
She added that since “they have failed in all their efforts to force my office to back down, pro-capitalist politicians have fought relentlessly to block or co-opt social movements — and, if all else failed, to claim credit for their victories. This is to discourage working people from getting organized.”
Sawant should sit down and actually study why India has such massive economic problems. There are several reasons. First, they have been playing around with Socialism since they regained their independence from Great Britain, always to the detriment of the people. Second, and this is a big one, there is the Indian caste system. There is no real way, as I understand it, to move from one caste level to another. This is where America is different. Anyone can move up or down in society. At our core, we’re a meritocracy.
Right now the backlash against her is strictly under the rule of law, something that Sawant holds in utter contempt. Frankly, I’m surprised she hasn’t been arrested and criminally charged for some of the things she’s done. She, no doubt, thinks that history is on her side which is why she isn’t in jail right now. However, and this is something people of her political mindset fail to understand, especially those who didn’t grow up in the United States, is that most people reject socialism and communism.
She can’t win unless she resorts to threats and violence which is exactly what she did last summer. The petitioners don’t want to reciprocate and this is why they are moving with a recall petition. The left, of which Kshama Sawant is a member, thinks that violence is something that is analog, and that they can dial it up and down at will. The people she hates, (Code named “Deplorables”), see violence as binary. It’s either off or on. The mindset is, “Off Oh look at those idiots.” and “On Screw it, kill them all.”
Right now, the switch is in the OFF position, and everyone would prefer to leave it there. However, the safety cover has been removed and there is a finger on the switch. The reason for this sad state of affairs can be laid at the feet of Kshama Sawant and people like her. She needs to just back off and go away before the helicopters start spooling up and someone offer her a ride.
