Govno Cooper declares State of Emergency to block veto override

Good day all. Recently, the North Carolina state legislature passed an education reform bill that, among other things, promotes school choice. This is something the Progressives, Liberals, Democrats and Teachers unions utterly oppose and Democrat Govno Roy Cooper vetoed. However, the Republicans hold a large majority in the legislature and were preparing to override the veto.

Seeing that he was about to lose, Govno Cooper, who is term limited, decided to go all Hitler on the State and declared a “State of Emergency” to block the expected override. Here are the details from the Washington Examiner:

Gov. Roy Cooper (D-NC) says the Tar Heel State is facing an emergency for public education as lawmakers there are poised to pass a universal school choice bill with enough votes to override his veto. The Democratic governor issued a state of emergency Monday, May 15th, that accused Republicans in the state legislature of trying to “choke the life out of public education” by enacting a universal school choice bill. The bill, he said, would drain precious funds from the state’s public schools.

“I’m declaring this state of emergency because you need to know what’s happening,” Cooper said in a video address. “If you care about public schools in North Carolina, it’s time to take immediate action and tell them to stop the damage that will set back our schools for a generation.”

With a Republican veto-proof majority in the legislature, Cooper is largely powerless in his bid to stop the bill, which boasts the support of the entire Republican caucus. The governor’s website currently bears a red alert banner urging North Carolina residents to call their state representatives.

Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to work. Thanks to the stupidity of the Teachers Unions, with the able assistance of tyrannical jackasses such as yourself Govno, parents finally had the chance to see for themselves the load of crap that passes for education in public schools. They were not amused.

“Public school superintendents are telling me they’ll likely have to cut schools to the bone — eliminate early college, AP and gifted courses, art, music, sports — if the legislature keeps draining funds to pay for private schools and those massive tax breaks,” Cooper said. “If they get their way, our State Board of Education will be replaced by political hacks who can dictate what is taught — and not taught — in our public schools. North Carolina schools need rigorous science, reading, and math classes, not more politicians policing our children’s curriculum with book bans, elimination of science courses, and more.”

Needless to say, this blatant abuse of power by the Govno was soundly blasted by all and sundry.

Jason Bedrick, an education expert at the Heritage Foundation, told the Washington Examiner that the governor should consider calling a state of emergency for the current state of North Carolina’s public schools, not because of what the legislature is going to do.

“If Gov. Cooper wants to call a state of emergency about education, it should be because four in 10 North Carolina 4th graders scored ‘below basic’ in reading last year — the worst scores in 15 years — not because the legislature is empowering families to choose the learning environments that work best for their children,” he said.

The public schools in the United States have been in decline for decades. You can see the beginnings of the collapse when teachers were allowed to unionize and “Professional Educators” came in and started shoving every untested fad down the throats of children. We’ve seen tried and true systems trashed and new systems implemented for one reason. It required hiring additional people to “teach” students. No one bothered to see if they actually worked. (They don’t. I’m a victim of “New Math” myself)

Corey DeAngelis, a senior fellow at the American Federation for Children, blasted Cooper’s actions, saying the governor “can go cry about it” because his state of emergency “will do nothing to stop the school choice tsunami from empowering all families with education freedom.”

Parents have had it. We have entire classes of seniors leaving school that flat out can’t read. Colleges have become remedial education schools instead of “Centers of Higher learning.” When school boards, teachers and politicians were confronted by angry parents, their response was to demand that the Department of Justice send in troops to arrest parents and declare them domestic terrorists. (Merrick Garland and the Biden Maladministration were on board with most of the demands, but couldn’t figure out how to get the military involved)

As of now, I have no information on whether or not the veto has been overridden. I suspect it will be, since the bill appears to be popular with everyone but the Progressive Liberal elites. As for Govno Roy Cooper, he is now irrelevant and knows it. This is why he’s attempting to declare another emergency. Like any tyrant, he likes the taste of absolute power. Perhaps the state legislature should look into removing Cooper from office for his attempted abuse of power.
