Good day all. From the first day of his maladministration, Dementia Joe Biden has been following his instructions to wreck the American fossil fuel industry. He’s been working to end coal production and stop oil and gas exploration and production. He’s also been pushing Electric cars and other vehicles.

The problem with EV’s are many. They cost far more then a normal car, they don’t have the range of a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, they take forever to recharge compared to a normal car, and they have a bad habit of bursting into flames.
Another issue has been where you can recharge the things. Charging stations are nowhere near as common as gas stations. You also have the problem of certain heads of certain bureaucracies who are pushing to force people to buy EV’s using their position to jump the lines at recharging stations.
One of the answers to these issues rammed through by Progressive Liberal Totalitarian Democrat governors is to ban the sale and ownership of cars with internal combustion engines. There has been a lot of push back by people over this, but when has a Progressive Liberal Democrat ever cared what the “Hoi Polloi” had to say on any subject? Well, it looks like one govno in a deep blue state has finally grown tired of the repeated blows of logic to the head and is ending his states mandates. Here are the details from Fox News:
Democratic Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont is withdrawing his plan to mandate future electric vehicle (EV) purchases after the proposal received bipartisan pushback from lawmakers on a key legislative panel.
Lamont ultimately pulled the proposal just four months after unveiling it and characterizing it as “decisive action to meet our climate pollution reduction targets.” In July, Lamont unveiled the proposal, tethering Connecticut’s emissions standards to those set in California, which mandates that every passenger vehicle sold is electric by 2035, the most aggressive target of its kind nationwide.
On that Kalifornistan mandate, I will be surprised if it’s still in effect in 2035. Barring some sort of major technological breakthrough, electric cars are a dead end technology. There is also the other problem of charging the damn things. Kalifornistan’s power grid can barely handle the loads it now has.
“Common sense has prevailed,” Connecticut Senate Republican Leader Kevin Kelly said in a statement. “The Governor’s decision to withdraw the regulations is a reasoned approach to address the growing concerns raised by working and middle-class families. Adopting California emission standards which ban the sale of gas-powered cars is a substantial policy shift which must be decided by the General Assembly.”
Since when has any Democrat Govno considered bringing a major change to the legislature? Of course, when the legislature and the Govno are of the same party, (Communist Democrat), they can usually get a nice, quick rubber stamp on a bill to further enslave the serfs. Occasionally, you do get a legislature that isn’t yet another rubber stamp politburo and actually listens to their constituents.
“There are too many questions regarding the capacity of our electric grid, the cost and location of grid improvements, and the negative impact on urban, rural and working poor families,” Kelly added. “More than 90% of our pollution comes from outside the control of Connecticut. We need a national – and international – approach to improve our air quality. A state-by-state strategy will only prolong the attainment of cleaner air.”
Here’s an interesting fact. The air quality in the United States is in the top 5 in the world, never mind the industrialized nations. Most of the pollutants we get come in from overseas, (Cough China Cough), where they only pay lip service to cleaning up the air. When SWMBO came to the United States, The late Angry Father asked her what was the first thing she noticed. Her response? “The air is so clean!” I’ve had that same comment from people from India and other countries that are more concerned with their economy then some expensive feel good Green crap.
Kelly is one of the Republican members of the Connecticut General Assembly’s 14-member bicameral Legislative Regulation Review Committee, which is tasked with approving regulations proposed by state agencies.
You mean any new regulations have to be approved by the state legislature? What a novel concept! Perhaps something like this could be implemented on the federal level.
The GOP minority leader and other Republicans on the panel led opposition to the proposed EV mandate over the last several months. After Democrats on the committee voiced concerns with the regulations, Lamont ultimately pulled the proposal from the agenda of a committee hearing Tuesday, when lawmakers were set to vote on it.
“This is a prudent step,” said Connecticut state Sen. John Kissel, the panel’s GOP co-chair. “The people’s elected representatives are the ones who should be making this decision. Something so life-changing – something that will take our choice away – needs to be decided by the full state legislature.”
Hmm, that might not be a good idea. Your average Progressive Liberal Democrat is a paid up member of the Church of Global Warming and Man Made Climate Change, (All Hail Al Gore), and they might just decide to ram it through anyway. (And make it a lot worse)
“Ask anyone on a Main Street anywhere in Connecticut those questions,” he added. “They will tell you that they – the people – should get to decide. It should be the people’s choice. The people of Connecticut deserve credit for speaking out. I thank my colleagues on the committee – and the governor – for withdrawing these regulations.”
And that is the rub. If people want to buy and drive electric cars, then they can. I don’t see any reason to prevent them from doing so, other then the chance of the thing erupting into flames if the Lithium battery core is ruptured in some way.
Another Republican on the panel, state Sen. Paul Cicarella, said Democrats realized “there was no plan to implement” the EV mandate proposed by Lamont.
Why am I not surprised? Planning is not something that Progressives are noted for. Wishful thinking? They’re very good at that. This is going to be the killer for EV’s. The back end infrastructure. You will need tens if not hundreds of thousands of charging stations, and the power generation systems to run the whole thing. The American power grid simply doesn’t have the capacity it needs to handle tens of millions of EV’s. (And never will)
The passenger car mandate was enabled by a bill passed by the Connecticut legislature in 2003 that ties the state’s clean air rules to California’s program. The latter mandate impacting trucks and buses was enabled by the 2022 Connecticut Clean Air Act.
Connecticut has almost as many problems as Kalifornistan. They’ve raised taxes to the point of confiscatory levels and, just like Kalifornistan and New York, all that money is moving out. The state simply can’t raise taxes any further. Back in 2003 when they decided to follow Kalifornistan’s lead, few understood just how quickly the state formally known as California would descend into third world status. Perhaps it’s time for Connecticut to rethink tying itself to the massive failure known as Kalifornistan.
Lamont’s decision to halt the proposal marks a setback for the EV industry and is an unexpected blow to environmentalists who have advocated for such mandates nationwide. Democrats have dominated control of the Connecticut General Assembly for years and maintain a large majority in both the state Senate and House of Representatives.

“The Committee’s failure to advance these regulations aligns Connecticut’s environmental policy with that of Alabama, Mississippi and West Virginia rather than Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island and the dozen other states we’ve been proud to call our clean air partners,” Charles Rothenberger, climate and energy attorney with Connecticut-based Save the Sound, told Fox News Digital.
“Unfortunately, we will now lose one more critical year in which the environmental, health and economic benefits of this program are not enjoyed by Connecticut’s residents,” Rothenberger said. “And there will be less consumer access to cutting-edge, low-cost clean vehicles as these vehicles are shipped elsewhere.”
All those states are also having some serious financial issues as well. The legislators are also getting an earful from people they have been telling what to do and how to live. These mandates will be reversed, or the states will find themselves collapsing. People simply don’t have the money to pay for these things and never will. They are reaching the point where they will either leave the states or finally vote these fools out of office.

Of course, one problem with a lot of these states are the Colleges and Universities. They let the students vote in state elections even though most of them don’t actually live in the states full time. They don’t have a dog in the hunt, as it were, and have been filled with all the Climate Change religious dogma by the staff. They need to either move to the states full time or vote in their home states only.
There is a lot of back and forth in the article from people saying thank god they stopped this to the usual idiots screaming that this is evil and if they don’t force people to drive electric cars and eat bugs the Earth will Burn!!”
The idea that making fossil fuels go away isn’t a bad one, but it can’t be imposed by a bunch of idiots who scream “The Science!” without actually understanding what science is. Electric cars are not the answer. Now hydrogen fueled cars and trucks could be. We just need to do something the Left hates doing. Actual research and development. A lot of energy companies are doing just that and if they can find a way to crack water into hydrogen and oxygen cheaply, the switchover will probably happen pretty rapidly. Of course, if the Government gets involved, it will fail miserably, just like everything else they’ve done since 1969. (When we landed on the moon)

If we went all in on biggest producer with the least amount of waste while hardening nd upgrading the grid as the new plants came online, we’d be announcing a gen5 plant for every city in the US. A generous grant plan to develop gen 6 and orbit based electric transmission (Tesla proved this by 1898). The Fukushima meltdown was a once in a millennium event,
