Good day all. When the Canadian government told GoFundMe to shut down the donations to the Freedom Convoy, GFM couldn’t wait to do it. The truckers then found GiveSendGo and started up a donation page there. In very short order, they had recouped the donations stolen by GoFundMe.
However, Thursday night, a Canadian Court froze the funds and told GiveSendGo they were not allowed to hand over the money to the Freedom Convoy truckers. Here are some of the details from the Daily Wire:
Thursday evening, an Ontario, Canada, court effectively froze access to monetary donations to truckers and other Canadians participating in the Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa, Canada, and elsewhere, through a government order. The Freedom Convoy, a group of more than 50,000 truckers protesting the COVID-19 vaccine mandates and restrictions throughout the Canadian government, raised more than $8 million through the online crowd resourcing platform GiveSendGo after GoFundMe kicked the group off of its own platform last Friday. Now, that money is in limbo as neither truckers nor donors can gain access to it, per the court order.
“BREAKING: The Ontario government says it has effectively frozen all donations made to the trucker convoy through GiveSendGo,” Canadian talkshow host Andrew Lawton tweeted Thursday. “It is now a criminal offence to have any ‘dealing’ with money from donations through this platform.”
GiveSendGo responded to the Canadian court order. However, I don’t think it was the response the judge expected. GiveSendGo sent out this tweet in response to the court order:
Know this! Canada has absolutely ZERO jurisdiction over how we manage our funds here at GiveSendGo. All funds for EVERY campaign on GiveSendGo flow directly to the recipients of those campaigns, not least of which is The Freedom Convoy campaign.
GiveSendGo is not a Canadian company, it is an American company, and is based out of Delaware. They have no jurisdiction. The best that they can do is petition the courts in the United States to freeze the account. I’m no lawyer, however I think that would be a real long shot. In fact Canadian lawyers are reviewing the order and basically going “WTF. OVER?” Here is a video from Viva Frei on this and other things. (It’s lengthy, and he was live streaming it)
One of the problems that GiveSendGo will have is getting the money into the correct hands in Canada. The Trudeau Tyranny has decided that they will use any method to crush the Canadian People under the Progressive Snowshoe of Tyranny. This is an ongoing thing, so stay tuned.
