Higher net crude oil imports are set to make the United States a net petroleum importer this year again, as in 2021, after a historic shift of being a net petroleum exporter in 2020, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Friday.
A net petroleum importer is a country that imports more crude oil and refined products than the crude and products it exports.
While the U.S. has been a net petroleum products exporter for more than a decade, it has always been a net crude oil importer, that is, it imports more crude than it exports.
The reason we have been an importer of crude oil and an exporter of refined oil is due to our refineries. They can handle the really crappy crude oil that comes from places like Venezuela.
he total crude and petroleum products trade marked a historic shift in 2020 when the U.S. became a net petroleum exporter. On a monthly basis, it was in September 2019 when the United States exported more crude oil and petroleum products than it imported—the first month in which America was a net petroleum exporter since monthly records began in 1973, the EIA said at the end of 2019.
And how did the United States become a net exporter of both crude and refined petroleum products? It can all be chalked up to one man, President Donald J. Trump.
In 2020, the plunge in global oil demand and the low oil prices that removed incentives for petroleum-exporting countries to raise production allowed the United States to export more petroleum in 2020 than it had in the past, the EIA said today.
This was due to the idiotic lock-downs inflicted on the United States and the world by our so called leaders. (In the States, it was the governors who decided that putting everyone under house arrest, with a few exceptions, (South Dakota), was a good idea. The Communazi govnos and mayors are finally opening up since they see their re-election chances being flushed down the toilet) As the lock-downs began falling apart, people started traveling more and oil usage climbed. The problem now is Dementia Joe Biden.
That senile, incompetent fool, along with the communists he’s been appointing to government posts, (Or trying to. The worst ones have failed to be confirmed), have dedicated themselves to destroying the energy sector, especially oil, gas and nuclear. By rights, we should be exploring, drilling and fracking all over the place. We have enormous confirmed reserves of oil, and, until recently, were announcing new finds almost monthly. Now the energy sector is moving to protecting themselves from the predation of the Communazis currently screwing things up. Hopefully, the expected blow out in November will be enough to overturn the worst of these policies. We shall see.
