Good day all. Recently, the People’s Democratic Republic of Seattle started working on a new tax. This tax, called a “Head Tax” was directly aimed at companies like Amazon. Needless to say, this made the major corporations most unhappy.
For instance, Amazon, which has been working on major expansion plans in the city, suddenly called for a pause as they reviewed whether or not they should continue expanding their presence in the city. This sent the CommunNazi’s running the city into apoplexy, and they demanded the Washington State Attorney General arrest Jeff Bezos. Here are the details from The Seattle Times Political Reporter, Jim Brunner:
Lest you believed Seattle’s head-tax debate was not already hot enough, a union-backed activist group says Amazon should be charged with a crime for its threat to roll back job growth if the Seattle City Council imposes the controversial tax aimed at helping homeless people.
The group, Working Washington, is asking Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson to charge Amazon with a Class B felony: “intimidating a public servant,” citing the company’s move to pause some construction and leasing in the city pending the outcome of the vote on the so-called “head tax.”
In an open letter to Ferguson on Wednesday, Working Washington compared Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to “a subprime mob boss lording it over a company town” and cited the state law making it illegal to threaten politicians and other public employees with bodily harm or other damages, including financial harm, in an attempt to sway a vote or other official action.
“We believe there is abundant evidence Amazon has broken that law, and we urge you to investigate and prosecute Amazon for this serious crime,” Working Washington said in its letter, contending the company had threatened “the business and financial condition of the corporate person of the city of Seattle” in order to pressure the City Council.
So, these union thugs want to arrest and jail anyone who doesn’t bend to their will? Right. Well, here’s what really happened. Bezos and Amazon management ran the numbers and saw that this money grab would really hurt them locally. Amazon has been working to expand it’s Corporate office in Seattle. So they called a pause while they reevaluated their expansion in Seattle.
Amazon brought Seattle’s head-tax debate to a boil last week with an announcement that it would stop development of a 17-story downtown office tower and consider subleasing another pending the outcome of a City Council vote on the head tax, which would charge large businesses about $500 per employee annually to try to address the homelessness crisis. The tax would raise an estimated $75 million a year.
Most of which would never see the inside of a homeless shelter. Instead it would be used by all the CommuNazi bureaucrats the city government wold have hired, none of whom could be trusted to tie their own shoes without adult supervision. (But they would be politically correct employees!)
Former state Attorney General Rob McKenna called the group’s prosecution demand absurd, saying the law in question is aimed at protecting individual public employees from personal threat, particularly of physical force.
“That’s a joke. How is the individual public official harmed substantially by Amazon’s statement they are pausing construction?” said McKenna, a Republican who served as attorney general from 2005 to 2013. “If a company were to threaten to pull out of a city altogether that would not remotely satisfy the requirements of this statute.”
Nope, it wouldn’t. Companies do this all the time. Take a look at Detroit. The city government, with the aid of the unions, drove the car manufacturers out of the city, and out of the state. For all intents and purposes, Detroit is is a Third World city that has been imploding for the last decade. Of course, that isn’t how the CommuNazi’s see it. The money that corporations make belongs to the government and any idea that it doesn’t must be punished!
Sage Wilson, a spokesman for Working Washington, acknowledged such a prosecution would be unusual but said the group is serious.
“Obviously, this would be a bold step. I am not going to pretend to you that this is a thing that normally happens,” Wilson said. But, he added, “I think the un-subtlety — and I would say brutality — of Amazon’s threat is also not a thing that normally happens.”
And there you have it. These crypto-fascist CommuNazi’s have no problem using the power of government to get what they want. I did a quick search on this Sage Wilson and found her on LinkedIn. There isn’t a lot there, but what she has listed tells you all you need to know. She’s never done an honest days work in her life.
Rob McKenna said the group’s request for criminal charges against Amazon is an example of the city’s “hypercharged” political environment, and compared it with President Donald Trump’s calls to jail Hillary Clinton and other political enemies.
There is a small difference here between Amazon and Felonia von Pantsuit. She did break the law and had it whitewashed by the Obama regime. She and her cronies committed espionage, obstructed justice, destroyed evidence and perjured themselves with the able assistance of James Comey and Loretta Lynch.
“It’s the endless escalation of rhetoric. It’s dangerous and troubling. I am sure Ferguson will not treat this demand seriously,” he said.
Never underestimate the stupidity of a Moonbat. We’ve seen over the last 10 years just how far these CommunNazi state AG’s will go. The only reason none of them have been killed is the respect for the law and the Constitution, something the CommuNazi’s hold in contempt, that they have. However, the CommuNazi AG’s will finally overplay their hand and they will find out what it means when someone says “There is noting so dangerous as someone with nothing left to lose)
This story came out May 9th and Seattle pushed through a modified version of this tax. However, Amazon and other companies are not rolling over. Where this will end is anyone’s guess. It isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that Amazon and other large corporations in Seattle close their offices and move elsewhere. As I’ve mentioned before, this is what happened to Detroit. I won’t be surprised at all if the same thing doesn’t happen in Seattle.
